EXP1 Final

This art gallery was inspired by Banksy's battle and Malangi's Lurking. Through these two words, i developed 2 sectional plans which represented to me the essence of the words "battle and "lurking". I then began to model my section plan into a 3D space whilst exploring the ideas of battle and lurking as well as their artworks and artists. While i began modelling, i found that the definition of the words began to build the model itself, so i further studied the words and their many meanings. finally i began to bring the top and bottom togethor so that they speak togethor and form a coherent model.

I was happy of this model so i began to develop it further

Final

So my top model represents battle and in battle, two entities or teams will have to beat the other. Thus i came up with this idea of the two side buildings swirling around each another in a battle dance imitation while reaching for the top or metaphorically for victory.

The bottom part of my model represents lurking, which to me means lying low, quietly and creeping around as explained by my last post. Thus the bottom level contains many passage ways which lurk upwards, sidewards and downwards.
 The textures i used
 grainy
 intertwined
 irregular
 rough
shiny

art gallery

Art Gallery+studio in the making

The gallery shown here is quite different from the prototype earlier as it further explores the messages conveyed by my chosen artists and also my section. In this model, the top representing a sense of battle shows two entities wrapping around each other whilst reaching for the top or "victory". The bottom section displays the quite low-lying nature of "lurking" as stairways lead to different rooms that move downwards, sidewards and even upwards  in a creeping motion.

Stairs

stair 1

This set of stairs was inspired by a set of stair shown in the lecture. I wanted a set of stairs that seemed to float and gave the user a sense of levitation and as if they were in the clouds.
stair 2

These stairs were created with the thought of "lurking" in my head. thus i made the steps flat and spread out, whilst the stair deviated left and right much like the movement of a snake lurking in the grass.

Sketchup

Bansky(battle)+Malangi(lurking)
the concept of this section is simple, for the top; in a battle, there will always be sides fighting for victory or to reign over  the other, thus in this section I portrayed two entities trying to engulf the other to win. the concept of the bottom section is lurking, which to me means lying low and moving silently and quietly.

Intro

This is a little something I created when I was bored at a coaching college I attended. As during high school I did not have any subjects which dealt with design or creative arts, I found this task rather difficult until I thought of the things I did to escape the monotony and boredom in the life of a privileged ABC with his path already paved for him by his parents. It didn't take long to create this work as it consisted of a few scribbles of a ballpoint pen sliced by a singe blade of a pair of scissors but it provided me with a sense of fulfilment and enjoyment + refreshment for me and my friends.

Insidehouse & Outside house, Takeshi Hosaka Architects

This exciting piece of architecture caught my eye when I was skimming through a book of the great small sized architecture. Currently in Tokyo, Japan it provides two independent units and houses a family. The house allows fluid movement from inside space to outside space as well as between the 2 structures. the view and sight is also planned in such a way that it flows between the structures and the spaces. This great piece of architecture really pushes the conventions and the ideas of how far architecture can go in our modern world.

This picture was taken during the new years eve of 2009 where me and a few friends went over by the lake side to roast marshmallows. Although we only had a few candles to roast the marshmallows, i found it an extremely joyous and lovely time and captured this memory with my then phone camera. I found that the picture came out quite well with the glow in the middle of a circle of friends celebrating together.
